Brownsea Island

Brownsea Island, England, was the location of the experimental camp of 20 boys held on the 1st August 1907 by Robert Baden-Powel, later Lord Baden-Powell of Gilwell Founder of the Scout and Guide Movement.
2 Waratah Guides (Harmony & Taylor) , 2 Gumnut Guides (Molly & Jasmine) and 2 Lone Guides (Rose & Lilly) travelled down to Wambangalang (32Km South of Dubbo) on Thursday to join other Guides across the Orana region for a fun and action packed 3 nights and 4 days.
The Guides experienced activities which were similar to the one’s BP organised for the first experimental camp. Activities included semaphore flags, colours, wide games, campfires, cheers, deer hunting (not the real thing!), ballistas, bazookas, tracking and patrol work. The girls also had fun screen printing, low ropes and dry land boat racing with water balloon babies.

A HUGE ‘Thank you’ to our local Guide leader, Elizabeth Betts, who planned and coordinated this region camp with a team or Orana region leaders and transported 4 of the girls to the camp and return. BRAVO!
